The separability condition for the RLC network over the field Fz of rational functions in multi-parameters is derived. Some criteria and technique are proposed to check the reducibility of the characteristic polynomial of the network. The technique is straightforward since it is only necessary to observe its graph. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
