Abstract

Octreotide improves whole body insulin sensitivity by an increased ability of insulin to suppress hepatic glucose production without affecting the substantial impairment of peripheral insulin action. Octreotide has beneficial effects on carbohydrate metabolism in acromegalic patients with glucose intolerance.
