Effect of classic heatstroke on serum procalcitonin

Abstract

Classic heatstroke is associated with increased concentrations of serum procalcitonin, particularly among survivors. Further studies are required to elucidate the source and action(s) of procalcitonin as well as its relationship to cytokine activation.
