Abstract

Neutron powder diffraction measurements have been made at a number of different temperatures from room temperature to 20 K on a sample of silver subfluoride. The anti-CdI2 structure has been confirmed and no evidence of a crystallographic phase transformation was discovered. The author reports the first measurements of the thermal parameters, strain, grain size, thermal expansion coefficients and vacancy density in this peculiar compound.
