Abstract

ABSTRACT This article develops a preference ranking method for choosing a particular irrigation technology. The method uses a set of 23 criteria to evaluate the performances of 10 alternative irrigation technologies selected to achieve 12 objectives. The evaluation process is made using a distance-based multicriterion decision-making (MCDM) technique known as compromise programming (CP). The whole process resulted in a complete ranking of the 10 alternative technologies including the best and the worst irrigation technologies for the problem under consideration.
