Abstract

Abstract Various aromatic nitriles were obtained from aromatic thioamides, aldehydes, and the related compounds with elemental sulfur and sodium nitrite in liquid ammonia in good yields. A new type of the Willgerodt–Kindler reaction is suggested in this study.
