Abstract The alkylation of phenol, hydroquinone and p-aminophenol is performed by phase transfer catalysis without solvent. High yields of α,ω-diphenoxyalkanes, hydroquinone diethers and high selective mono O-alkylation of p-aminophenol are obtained in very mild conditions.
