Abstract

Dimers of trimers are found in the crystal structure of the pyridine adduct of a zinc porphyrin macrocycle (structure shown on the right). The analogous quinuclidine adduct does not show the interpenetration of two zinc porphyrin trimers that probably results from ππ interactions (T and stacking arrangements) between the pyrrole and pyridine rings.
