The genetic linkage between three loci in soybeans was determined and established as Linkage Group IV. The loci involved were V 1 , v 1 (normal chlorophyll variegated leaves); Na , na (ovate, lanceolate leaflets); and P 2 , p 2 (normal, minute pubescence or “puberulence”). The order of genes was shown to be v 1 ‐ na ‐ p 2 . The combined recombination value for v 1 and na was 35.6 ± 0.9%, for na and p 2 was 26.4 ± 1.4%, and random assortment of v 1 and p 2 occurred. Greater frequency of 4.seeded pods was shown to be a pleiotropic effect of the gene that causes narrow leaflets.
