Polarisation mode dispersion compensation at 20Gbit/s with fibre-based distributed equaliser

Abstract

Ideal equalisation of polarisation mode dispersion can be expected from an equaliser that mirrors the differential group delay profile of a transmission line. The authors have successfully operated a PMF-based 77 ps compensator at 20 Gbit/s.
