Abstract

AbstractAbstractA microwave oven was used in the silver-staining of histologic sections from the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. The technique quickly and reliably stained both senile plaques and neurofibrillary change in parafin-embedded tissue, providing a method with significant advantages in time, expense, and histologic detail over the traditional silver method performed on frozen sections.
