Abstract An improved method is described for the preparation of gelatin coacervate microcapsules containing sulphamerazine as a fine deflocculated powder. The factors which control both the coacervation step and the recovery of the microcapsules are discussed. The in vitro release of sulphamerazine from microcapsules of different wall thickness which had been hardened by formaldehyde under different conditions has been studied. The method of preparation gave a high percentage of encapsulated material in comparison with other recovery techniques.
