Abstract

ABSTRACT Essential oils, obtained by hydrodistillation of the leaves, stem bark and fruits of Litsea cubeba growing in northeastern India, were investigated by GC. Linalool (78.3%), citronellol (41.27%) and citronellal (76.55%) were the major components of the leaf, stem bark and fruit oils respectively. Because the leaf oil was richer in linalool than normally encountered, this represents an additional chemotype of L. cubeba.
