Most common reduction methods usedin the laboratories include the use of heterogeneous metalcatalysts such as Pd/C, Rh/C, Pt/C, and Raney nickel in thepresence of hydrogen gas. As an alternative to the metal-catalyzed hydrogenation, hydrazine mediated olefin reductionhas been known for almost one hundred years.
