HIGH-FREQUENCY irrigation can be controlled accurately by an electronic feedback soil moisture sensor installed in the root zone of row crops. A validating experiment conducted with processing tomatoes in a fine sandy loam soil indicates that this control method can be used successfully to improve crop yield and quality, and provide precise automatic control of trickle irrigation systems.
