The energy density of the chromoelectric field generated by the static qq\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} pair is computed in the SU(2) lattice gauge theory. The energy density in the central region of the Wilson loop shows significant deviations from the Coulomb behavior and approaches a constant value at ${R}_{\mathrm{qq}\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}}$=0.8--1.1 fm.
