Abstract

This new monograph is based partly on the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Courses of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, and partly on the author's personal experiences in dealing with ophthalmic reconstructive surgical problems. The present volume, the third of a series published by Callahan, is an encyclopedic review of old and modern reconstructive procedures of the eyelids and adnexa. An unfortunate consequence of the explosion in medical publications is the difficulty of keeping in touch with allied fields. Perusal of the references at the end of each chapter reveals only a few names familiar to the general plastic surgeon. Likewise, references in the plastic surgical literature seldom include many names familiar to the ophthalmic surgeon. This volume should therefore prove valuable to the plastic surgeon anxious to familiarize himself with the ophthalmic literature.
