Abstract

This is one in a series of overview articles examining aspects of urbanization in developing countries. This article is concerned with the relationship between demographic issues employment and poverty in third world cities. It begins with a description of some of the main dimensions of the urbanization process including both natural increase and migration. Sections are included on employment and urban labor markets and on poverty and urbanization. (ANNOTATION)
