Evaluation of Sudanese Plant Extracts as Mosquito Larvicides

Abstract

Out of the eight plant extracts tested against mosquito larvae, three possessed high larvicidal activity. These were Randia nilotica, Gardenia lutea and Balanites aegyptiaca. Four extracts, Croton macrqstachyus. Azadirachfa indica, Aristolochia bracteata and Dioscorea dumetorum, showed slight larvicidal activity, while the remaining one, Vigna fragrans did not possess any larvicidal activity.
