Some approaches to the archaeology of Christian pilgrimage

Abstract

Abstract The scale of Christian pilgrimage, and levels of social and economic activity along pilgrim routes, are considered. Work in several disciplines is used to highlight some of the dynamics involved. Possible avenues of archaeological research are explored.
