Skyrmions and Vector Mesons

Abstract

We discuss the scattering of mesons of arbitrary spin and isospin from baryons in models in which the baryon is considered a soliton, or "skyrmion," in an effective Lagrangean of mesons. Model-independent linear relations between partial-wave amplitudes are derived for $\ensuremath{\pi}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\rho}N$ and $\ensuremath{\pi}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}N$, and, where possible, are compared with experiment.
