Size controllable SiO<sub>2</sub>nanoparticles synthesized by adjusting the hydrolysis–condensation time and the concentration of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) in ethanol–water solution in the presence of ammonia as a catalyst were encapsulated within resorcinol–formaldehyde polymer microspheres.
