Since the first reports on the attraction of Tabanidae to CO2 appeared (Wilson et al. 1966, Smith 1966) subsequent observations by us as well as other investigators (Adkins 1968, pers. commun.) have indicated that CO2 might not be as attractive to deer flies (CHRYSOPS) as to most Tabanus species. In view of these observations the present study was conducted to obtain some information on the attractancy of CO2 to Chrysops spp. in and adjacent to the estaurine area of Louisiana.
