Investigation of effects of gamma radiation on erbium doped fibre amplifiers

Abstract

A series of irradiation tests on erbium fibre amplifiers using fibres with different erbium and codopant levels show the range of gain losses induced and permit some conclusions about the relative roles of the fibre constituents.
