Electron Momentum Distribution and Compton Profiles of Ag

Abstract

Abstract A band structure calculation of the electron momentum distribution for Compton scattering in Ag is made employing Hubbard's approximate scheme. Plots are shown of the contributions of the individual bands to the total momentum distribution along the 〈100〉, 〈110〉, and 〈111〉 directions. The graphs of the total momentum density in the form of isodenses in the (100) and (110) planes are also presented. The results are used to calculate the anisotropy in the Compton profiles viz. J 110 — J 100 , J 100 — J 111 , and J 110 — J 111 in Ag.
