Abstract

The structures of di-μ-benzenethiolato-bis{[1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane]nickel(II)} perchlorate acetonitrile solvate, [Ni 2 (SPh) 2 (dppe) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 .2MeCN (1), and di-μ-benzenethiolato-bis[(benzenethiolato)(triphenylphosphino)palladium(II)] acetonitrile solvate, [Pd 2 (SPh) 4 (PPh 3 ) 2 ].MeCN (2), have been determined by X-ray diffraction. The dinuclear [Ni 2 (SPh) 2 (dppe) 2 ] 2+ cation is crystallographically centrosymmetric about the midpoint of Ni...Ni' and is formed by the edge sharing of two square-planar NiP 2 S 2 coordinations. The dinuclear [Pd 2 (SPh) 4 (PPh 3 ) 2 ] molecule is located on a crystallographic inversion centre at (0,0,0) and comprises two PdPS 3 coordination planes sharing two μ-SPh ligands
