The transformation‐range viscosity and thermal expansion behavior of several series of sodium and potassium galliosilicate glasses were studied. The trends observed in the results are similar to those found for alkali aluminosilicate glasses. This result suggests a similarity in the structural roles of aluminum and gallium ions. The present data are discussed in terms of this structural role. In addition, the influence of silica content, alkali content, and alkali identity on the thermal properties of these glasses is discussed.
