Prestressed Cable-Net Facades

Abstract

Prestressed cable-net facades allow for transparency unprecedented in glass facades to date. In addition to being a mere enclosure, they may also be used as weather- and noise-protection. Due to their flexibility they are even able to withstand detonation waves. The development, function and several distinctive examples of prestressed cable-net facades are described below in this paper.
