Complement and the recruitment of mononuclear osteoclasts.

Abstract

It is suggested that C3 deposition on mineralised bone surfaces mediates the recruitment of mononuclear osteoclasts to this site. As the mononuclear osteoclasts fuse to form the multinucleate osteoclast, complement receptor expression is lost.
