A study of the Fermi surface of bismuth is carried out by means of the magnetoacoustic effect. In particular, the hole Fermi surface is investigated. The main result is a strong indication that the usual dispersion law cannot be valid over the entire k space. The experimental results, in fact, seem to fit the hypothesis that there are singular points (saddle points) on the Fermi surface.
