Abstract

Tarnished plant bug ( Lygus lineolaris Palisot de Beauvois) infestation of presquaring cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) resulted in plants with aborted terminals (98%), swollen nodes, shortened internodes, deformed leaves, and excessive branching of the main stem. Fruiting and boll maturity were delayed. Dry weight and overall plant height were reduced. There was no interaction between cultivars or presquare stages in response to plant bug infestation.
