Abstract Micromorphology plays an important role in understanding the context and formation of archaeological deposits and soils. However, little information about the strategies and considerations for collecting samples for micromorphological analysis has been published. This is especially so for stony or crumbly deposits that are difficult to remove while preserving their undisturbed nature. We present several techniques and strategies to facilitate the collection of micromorphological samples by people with limited experience. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
