Abstract A simplified experimental apparatus for Differential Electrochemical Mass Spectrometry (DEMS) was constructed having only one turbomolecular pump and a modified gas inlet system. The setup allows the determination of the activity of porous PtRu electrodes for the electro‐oxidation of small organic molecules. Various PtRu alloys with defined composition can be electrodeposited onto porous gold substrates. First results on the electrooxidation of methanol in acid solution were presented.
