A new numerical method is presented for computing electron paths through magnetic lenses. The process is direct and accurate and is not confined to paraxial rays, nor necessarily to rays that are initially non-skew. There is direct control over the error, since the energy equation may be checked at any stage. The method agrees well with experiment and has been used to determine the spherical aberration curve.
