Abstract

SUMMARY Further experience with the pubo‐vaginal spring device in the control of incontinence of urine in women is described. The results are presented, with particular reference to the alterations in the urethral pressure profile obtained when the device is used, and a cystometrogram test for the assessment of the effectiveness of the device. The appearances of micturating cystogram films are briefly described. The device has now been used in 43 patients, of whom 33 received some benefit. The adaptation of the device to electronic use is described, but the results of the objective tests undertaken do not suggest that any significant advantage is conferred by electrification. A single complication is reported, and the way in which it may be avoided discussed.
