Abstract

A crystalline silicic acid H 2 Si 14 O 29 · 5H 2 O has been prepared by topochemical reaction of sodium silicate Na 2 Si 14 O 29 ·12H 2 O with acids. The compound has a layer structure with silicate sheets of about 11.2 Å thickness. The layer structure is clearly established by two dimensional reactions, mainly the formation of intercalation compounds with X-oxides (dimethylsulfoxide, pyridine-N-oxides etc.), acid amides, urea and its derivatives and bases such as hydrazine and pyridine. Typical exemples are 2 (CH 3 ) 2 SO · H 2 Si 14 O 29 , 2C 5 H 5 NO · H 2 Si 14 O 29 , 2, 7 HCONHCH 3 · H 2 Si 14 O 2 9; 2, 3 HCON (CH 3 ) 2 · H 2 Si 14 O 29 ; 1, 6 HCONHC 2 H 5 · H 2 Si 14 O 2 9; 1, 6 HCON (C 2 H 5 ) 2 · H 2 Si 14 O 29 .
