Coccidia of domestic and wild waterfowl (Anseriformes)

Abstract

The literature on the coccidia of species of anseriform birds is reviewed. Under the host categories of ducks, geese, and swans individual species of renal and enteric coccidia are described separately. In most cases the hosts, geographic distributions, oocyst structure, life cycles, and diseases are given. Synonyms are identified and critical comments are provided on some species. Coccidia lists are given for each of 45 species of waterfowl and oocysts of 37 of the 38 species of parasites are illustrated.
