With the goal of characterizing the electrical environment in the vicinity of high-voltage dc transmission lines, measurements of ground-level electric field and ion current density have been performed in the vicinity of two hvdc test lines at Project UHV. Results of measurements are reported for a single-conductor configuration tested in the range ±150 kV to ±400 kV, and for a multi-conductor bundle configuration in the range ±950 kV to ±1200 kV. The effect of pole spacing and line height is examined. Data for both fair and foul weather are presented.
