United Nations peacekeeping occupies a major place in Pakistan's foreign policy agenda. In particular, the early 1990s were an active period for Pakistan, which served as a UN peacekeeper in various trouble spots throughout the world. Two key points are made in this study. First, although financial benefits may be a reason for participating in peacekeeping, it is argued that a combination of political interests has played a primary role in shaping Pakistan's positive attitude towards UN peacekeeping. Second, the study also shows that Pakistan has also demonstrated a capacity to undertake peacekeeping in a way that meets some of the unprecedented needs emerging in the field today.
