Abstract

Abstract Most important methods for the synthesis of enaminothioketones — A) sulfurization of enaminoketones; B) from β‐halogeno‐as well as β‐alkoxyvinylmethin‐immonium salts and alkali sulfides or ‐thiosulfates; C) from 1,2‐dithiolium and isothiazolium salts; D) from β‐thioxoaldehydes and amines — are described. The π‐electronic structure of the studied enaminothioketones has been investigated by means of different modes of spectroscopy (UV, IR, NMR) and characterized as polymethine‐like unsaturated organic compounds. This is proved with the obtained reactivity behaviour of the enaminothioketones as heteroanalogous 1,3‐diketones vs. eleclrophilic as well as nucleophilic attacks.
