Single dose loading with pilocarpine hydrochloride concentrations from 1% to 10% was performed in a series of open-angle glaucomatous patients. No significant differences in the ocular hypotensive response occurred at any dose level. On chronic administration, however, 4% pilocarpine produced a significant improvement over the 1% solution in both intraocular pressure and outflow facility. An increase in concentration to 8% produced no additional change in either factor.
