Abstract The π–π interaction of the tetrathiafulvalenyl groups in 1,8-bis(ethylenedithiotetrathiafulvalenyl)naphthalene was investigated. The novel electronic properties of neutral and cationic tetrathiafulvalenes have been revealed on the basis of the X-ray analysis, spectral analyses, and DFT calculations.
