Abstract

An optimal control system is proposed to control dynamic behavior of a vehicle subject to road disturbances. The novelty of this paper is to apply the Linear Quadratic Regulation (LQR) control on an active vehicle suspension system operated by a hydraulic actuator. A quarter car model of suspension system and a nonlinear model of hydraulic actuator are used to simulate the control system. The simulation results indicate that the optimal control of the active suspension system operated by a hydraulic actuator is effectively able to reduce the vibration of vehicle body.
