High-power fibre-coupled 1550 nm DFB laser modulesfor externally-modulated fibre-optic transmission

Abstract

Singlemode output powers exceeding 165 mW (CW, 25°C) are demonstrated from 1550 nm DFB lasers designed for externally-modulated analogue and digital transmission. The devices have been incorporated into a commercial high-reliability fibre-pigtailed butterfly module which offers output powers up to 40 mW, linewidth < 1 MHz, and RIN < 160 dB/Hz.
