Screw Dislocations in and near Lamellar Inclusions

Abstract

Abstract Using the method of images, the stress field of a screw dislocation in and near a lamellar inclusion is determined. The general solution holds for many simple cases involving straight boundaries, such as metals with surface film, thin plates, or composite materials of laminated structure. The image force on the dislocation is derived and discussed in terms of the thickness and rigidity of the inclusion.
