Two-phase systems are assumed to contain spherical particles arranged in a three-dimensional cubic array. A general expression for porosity correction has been derived for diverse two-phase systems from experimental results reported in the literature. The correction term is found to be dependent on the ratio of thermal conductivities of the constituent phases of the system and gives better agreement of predicted effective thermal conductivity values with experimental results.
