An analysis has been made of the two-stream instabilities that can occur in a drifted solid-state plasma in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field. In particular, the instabilities in an electromagnetic field which has both transverse- and longitudinal-electric-field components are considered. It was found that there are four possible nonconvective instabilities. These are discussed in light of possible experiments to check the analysis. The potential importance of these instabilities is the relatively high frequencies (millimeter wavelength region) that might be generated.
