Two tandem catalysis approaches: first, a cofactor regeneration procedure with an NAD+ model and [Cp*Rh(bpy)H]+, which was formed in situ, provided the 1,4-NADH analogue 1. Cofactor 1 was then used with horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase (HLADH) for the conversion of prochiral ketones into chiral alcohols (e.g. 2→3).
