Abstract

Roots and stems of four woody plant species were evaluated for cold hardiness following storage at 2 and −7 C. Stem tissue achieved much greater hardiness than root tissue under both storage temperatures. Roots severed from the plant prior to storage were similar in hardiness to roots from intact plants.
