Radioactive 59Fe-ferrioxamine was intravenously administered in rats. The distribution of the radioactive label over different organs was examined. The injected 59ferriox- amine was partly (50–80%) excreted in the urine with a lower specific activity. The decrease of the specific activity of ferrioxamine in the urine can be explained by an exchange between ferrioxamine iron and tissue iron.
